Re: [Simply Computers] Turn off wake on lan
Wake-on-lan will start the computer if another computer on the network
attempts to talk to the one that's turned off. It's useful in office
environments.
There are three levels of suspend.
Software suspend - The system turns off all drives and peripheral
devices. Normally, moving the mouse will recover. Battery drains
almost normally.
Suspend to RAM - The system places all of the contents of the CPU into
RAM and powers off the CPU after doing a software suspend. Recovery
will be about 5-10 seconds. Battery will slowly drain.
Suspend to disk (hybernate) - The system places the contents of the RAM
into the hard drive and powers off after doing a suspend to RAM.
Recovery depends on how fast the hard drive is and how much RAM you
have, 30 seconds-a minute. Battery is not drained at all.
